strangeness and charm

good morning loves!
i will be returning to boston in less than a week and as much as i miss the city, i am sad to leave the peacefulness of country living. i am trying to do my best in appreciating the little things about this gorgeous place.

what i wore: hand knit beanie, vintage leather, madewell sweater, american apparel skinnies, & my metallic dr martens.

a view from outside my window

this morning i woke up to the lovely sounds of gatsby-era ragtime music. it was perfect.
i also thought id share my latest painting, dedicated to one of my most beloved fashion icons, edie sedgwick.

one reason i love fashion is because it is like wearable art, and above all other things, i love art.

a winter wonderland

how lovely is this season? besides the constant chill of an old colonial house in nh during decemeber, i do love this time of year. i spent today with an old friend. we enjoyed the snow and literally spent the entirety of today drinking coffee and reading magazine for inspiration for the upcoming season. my spring wish-list is currently under construction
(kate spade, i'm coming for you).

as you may be able to tell, the upper east corner of the us is facing quite a snowy season.

what i wore:
vintage sweater
madewell black skinnies
vintage belt
dolce vita booties

aint she a cutie? i do love this girl and her flawless sense of style.

what olivia wore:
madewell scarf
burberry coat
american eagle skinnies
nordstrom booties

my current reading list:

everyone needs to go pick up alexa chung's new book. it is amazing.

i hope everyone is having a stress-free holiday season! i can't wait to do spend tomorrow in the kitchen baking up a storm.

sea of love

“So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.”
my favorite quote from my favorite book. it reminds me to keep moving forward even when the terrain gets rough. fitzgerald wrote those words in the great gatsby.
i have been struggling lately. as a young adult, it is sometimes hard to know if you are on the right path-- if you should continue forward or take a few steps back. sometimes i wish there was a manual to life, but that would simply be too easy.
anyways, today i did enjoy myself for the most part. it twas a busy day with class and meetings but i did manage to meet my dear friend madeline for coffee.

what i wore:
vintage sweater
daniel rainn blazer
madewell shorts
topshop tights
and of course my lovely black booties

if you are ever in the area, the boston common coffee co is located on washington street and is quite divine.

i ran away from my problems tonight and walked 3 miles (in wedges) to allston to go to my favorite (but very overpriced) goodwill. they're always wonderful vintage gems hidden in their racks. why did i walk you ask? my feet are asking me that same question. but in all honesty, i needed the fresh air.

as a quick side note, today in class my favorite professor (with amazing style) showed us this gorgeous book with indescribable artwork. i fell in love. Daniel Egneus is a genius. please look up his work.

angie (my professor) always writes inspirational quotes for us to take in. today's was:
"laugh when you can, apologize when you should, and let go of what you can't change. life's too short to be anything but happy".

be happy y'all.

paint the sky with stars

oh what a beautiful day! boston was unbelievable. its mid-november but feels like august. i love cloudy skies, it reminds me of the uk (my favorite place in the world). today i met an old friend for coffee and photographs. we went to the boston public gardens and spent the afternoon. we parted ways when the water started falling from the empty sky, we knew darkness was upon us. i met this beaut my senior year of high school and we've been close ever since. she lives just across the commons from me. a lovely gal she is.

olivia is wearing a burberry coat (i am absolutely obsessed with it), her jeans shirt and necklace are from jcrew, and her booties are from bp (found at nordstrom). i am happy to announce she is also in love with madewells transport tote so we have the same bag. great minds think alike! olivia is my all time favorite person to shop with; she is a fashion student at fisher college and we have a very similar sense of style. we give it to each other straight, a quality one can only share with a true friend, and i consider this lovely girl a true friend. (plus she shares my undeniable love for iced carmel macchiatos).

i'm next, the weather was so quaint i decided to go with thin tights and a sweater, my favorite sweater to be exact.

im in simple black madewell tights, black suede wedges that i bought years ago, i'm embarrassed to say i can't remember where they are from. my dress is vintage, and my lovely sweater is from jcrew. of course i have my madewell transport tote, and my hat is from an eclectic hat shop in cambridge called goorin bros. if you haven't heard of them you need to check them out: Goorin Bros.

it was such a lovely afternoon, i even ran into some friends filming a short film by mistake--boston is a small city. i love it so incredibly much. happy sunday everyone!

(ps. listen to enya)

street style | friends

i am quite fond of of taking street style photography. i also love taking photos of my friends, so i decided to combine both. this is jake, he is an adorable, eccentric creature with the best heart. i can't get over his style. i have styled him before (he's quite a lovely model) and the pictures came out beautiful.

paulina is next, she is a bombshell. i keep telling her she needs to pursue modeling. her fashion sense is equally as grand as her looks.

chantelle is a funky gal. her clothes are always bright and happy. she is also a beaut.

then there is maddie. this girl is an unbelievable makeup artist. she has a youtube channel y'all should most definitely check out: MadelineKaay Youtube Channel

i got my picture taken too, the weather and light was too lovely for me to resist.

(i'm wearing a jcrew sweater, jcrew jeans, dolce vita booties, and my lovely madewell tote)

there are more to come! so stay tuned.

fall inspirations | wildly simple

oh how i love fall, im very simplistic in fall. maybe its my october birthday or the acceptance of scarves, or maybe its the reminder christmas is approaching. fall is very a wonderful time of year, especially in new england.

 these are my new obsessions:

madewell's transport tote | i love this bag, it fits everything i need, its large yet simple and lays on my shoulder comfortably. i would definitely recommend it.

madewell's billie boot | no, madewell isn't paying me, i just love their products. these are super comfortable and lovely, they match everything and provide a polished look.

is it wrong i have started my christmas shopping? and christmas recipe collecting? its october, thats soon enough right? i cant wait for the lights and the snow and my parent's wood stove. my boyfriend and i just booked our late november trip for nyc and i am so excited. im going to spend the whole day in the met. hear that scott? the met, not the natural history museum. (we've been battling over it, he has already lost on a knick's game). im sad jimmy fallon is moving to la, although i am happy for his success, i never got a chance to see him live...maybe one day.

oh yeah! something exciting happened, my birthday was monday and my boyfriend and i were leaving the movie theatre on the boston commons when out of nowhere comes tom brady and gisele. it was quite fun to experience--tom told me happy birthday (we are on a first-name basis now).

oh fall, its only been a short while and the magic has already started.

i shall leave you with this, it makes me smile. till next time friends.
